Iron Mountain Snow Patrol
February 16, 2003
Every year the Forest Service requests help in distributing safety information and taking a count of people using the Iron Mountain area (Mormon Emigrant Trail) for winter recreation. The Posse has been asked to assist on one of these days (Saturdays & Sundays - Jan thru March.)Meet at Starbuck's Coffee in El Dorado Hills at 8:30 am (Latrobe Rd/El Dorado Hills Blvd - s/o Hwy 50 across from Long's Drugs.) We'll leave by 8:50 am. We'll meet with a Park Ranger at 10:00 am at the Information Area west of Jenkinson Lake to set up a check-point. The Ranger will set up cones indicating our check-point ahead. For those who want to wheel, we can take turns manning the checkpoint, where we'll have a fire pit going, chairs, table, etc.. We can BBQ some hot dogs & burgers for lunch. After finishing wheeling & check-pointing (3:30 - 4:00 pm), we can stop for dinner down the hill.
