2009 January Snow Patrol
From Gold Hills Posse 4x4 Club
The first 2009 Posse Snow Patrol had crazy weather and a huge turnout. Based on my best count we had 16 vehicles and around 30 people. This was the first run for a good portion of the group and I can’t remember everyone’s name. Best I can figure the list looked like this.
- Silver FJ - Mark
- Gold LJ - Bill & Cammie and Family + Friend
- Silver Chevy - Chris & wife + Hanna
- Blue TJ - Chris & Ashley
- Black TJ - Brad & Kathleen + Family
- Brown Ford - Keane
- Gold Dodge - Larry and Cole
- White 4-Runner - Steve
- Burgundy CJ-8 - Steve + Family
- Silver TJ - Lee & Pam
- White TJ - Joe
- Green TJ - Sue
- Red YJ - Bob & Linda
- White FJ
- White YJ - Kevin
- Gold Scout
The group met at 9:00 at the gas station/Subway in Pollock Pines and left promptly at 9:30. It rained until we got up high enough and began to snow pretty heavily. We setup our base camp just above the snowline. This was probably the most comfortable snow patrol I’ve ever been on. We had two easy-ups and enough tarps to make sure that everyone was under cover and protected from the weather. Mr. Heater and a somewhat pathetic camp fire provided the warmth. Bill, Cammie, and Mark decided that it would be a perfect run to hold their membership BBQ so we had more burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips, and beans than we could eat. Congratulations to our new members!
Two small groups broke off during the day for some snow wheeling and the rest counted vehicles, handed out information, and enjoyed some sledding. The group headed down the hill just as the weather broke. All my pictures are here http://posse4x4.org/gallery/20090125_Road_Patrol_Keane and a couple of highlights are below.
