2010 Bowman Lake Snow Run
From Gold Hills Posse 4x4 Club
Kevin, Steve (and the twins), Bob and Keane met on Saturday for an early January snow run. We were headed to Bowman Lake via Washington. No one was sure how much snow to expect so the plans were pretty flexible. The group aired down a few miles outside of Washington, followed pretty well packed tracks, and made it to Bowman Lake with little trouble.
From there we cut up McMurry Lake Road and that’s where the fun began. There were no tracks so we were breaking a fresh trail. Keane had some trouble making the turn to get up the hill so Kevin jumped into the lead.
Kevin lead the way to the top of the hill where the group ate lunch. We were making great progress so we decided to keep moving forward. We got to Forest Route 41 and headed up the hill. Kevin continued to lead but the going got slower and slower. Finally he couldn’t go any further. Keane got into the front and had better luck. We made it to within 2.5 miles of Meadow Lake Road and were darn near the top of the hill but it finally turned into a stuck fest.
We turned around at about 3:30 and headed home in time to catch the sun setting over Bowman Lake.
